Mothers and children first.
People and skills
Help us stand with mothers and children and train healthcare providers
Mothers and children first.
People and skills
Support newborns since their early childhood with paediatrics immunization. With such a simple prevention practice you can save lives from infectious as well as from preventable and treatable diseases like measles, which remains very common in Africa.
With your donation ensure a safe delivery for a mother and her child. Access to health facility for a safe delivery is by no means certain for African mothers. A cesarean section or a transfusion in case of postpartum hemorrhage are two simple procedures that make the difference between life and death.
Guide with your hand a child suffering from acute malnutrition and help them face the daily challenge of keeping their health condition stable. With your support we can guarantee outpatient follow-ups for six months to every malnourished child and offer them the care of qualified health practitioners.
The shortage of skilled health workers remains one of the main problems plaguing African health systems at all levels. By training future midwives and ensuring their presence in peripheral health facilities we can ensure quality healthcare.
if you would like, you can customize your donation by selecting the activities to which you would like to contribute.
265.000 women die every day in sub-Saharan Africa due to complications of pregnancy and 1.2 million of children die within their first four weeks of life. One in three children under 5 years of age is malnourished. So is one pregnant woman in three. Such condition makes them more vulnerable, representing a major risk factor for many diseases and death. Well-trained health workers are key to guarantee access to quality maternal and newborn health services while lack and scarcity of qualified human resources negatively affect health systems in low-income countries.
The newest phase “People and Skills” is designed to both preserve the health of mothers and children in the first 1.000 days of the newborn life and build competencies among health workers who can be the drivers in changing and improving health services and systems: people are the change.
By training local personnel, we can guarantee safe and assisted deliveries, also in emergencies; perform check-up and screening for both infectious diseases (HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, syphilis) and metabolic disorders such as diabetes and raise awareness on nutrition among mothers and care givers to prevent and treat newborns’ most common disorders, especially acute and chronic malnutrition which remains a major cause of death in children.
When we work together, we can make the change
Education to qualified health personnel who can defend the health of mothers and children is the only effective response to both maternal and newborn mortality and malnutrition. To achieve these goals, we ask each and everyone to get involved and support our work.

Our commitment in training African health workers
Dhor, Magdalene, Fanny, Shirley are the drivers of change. They are committed to their dreams as we are to training qualified health workers. People and skills is CUAMM’s program for the promotion of education as key to development.
Our commitment to guarantee a safe and assisted delivery thanks to the support of qualified personnel
In Ethiopia, as in every country where CUAMM works, mothers and babies are at the centre. We work to ensure mothers a safe delivery and assist newborns in their first days. By providing good health care, we hope to help them realize their dreams. Like that of a mother who wishes her twins will become nurses.
